City Rail Link Limited has today announced it will progress tendering for the CRL stations and underground tunnels with two bidders.
This follows a delay, since the withdrawal in February of one of the initial preferred bidders.
Interim chief executive, John Williamson says it is pleasing to be able to recommence the tender process for the single biggest CRL contract with two committed bidders.
"It is unfortunate that we have had to incur this delay but we are now focused on ensuring the best outcome for CRL Ltd (CRLL) our funders and the people of Auckland. As we move forward, CRL Ltd, our existing construction partners and the bidders for the stations and underground tunnels will be collectively focused on achieving value for money and the earliest possible opening of the CRL."
Jointly funded by the Government and Auckland Council, the CRL is Auckland’s top transport priority doubling rail capacity into the city centre and is expected to be completed in 2024.
