Community Liaison Groups (CLGs)

Community Groups (CLGs)

Community Liaison Groups (CLGs) were an important part of how we communicated to our communities

Group membership represented a cross-section of the community, including residents, property owners, businesses and interest groups in each area.

The CLGs for the CRL project have now come to a close, aligned with the completion of the most disruptive construction around the stations.

The CLGs were an:

  • avenue for local community representatives to understand and share what’s happening in their area during construction

  • opportunity to monitor and give feedback on the effects of construction on their community

  • provide input into the preparation of a variety of different management plans designed to help manage the impacts of construction.

Throughout the life of the project, there were five CLG groups that included:

Waitematā Station: This group represented the city centre community for works surrounding the Waitematā Station and Britomart Place / Scene Lane.

Te Waihorotiu Station: This group represented the midtown area, focused on Albert Street from Wyndham Street to Mayoral Drive, where the new Te Waihorotiu Station has been built.

Karanga-a-Hape Station: This group represented the Karangahape Road community, focused on the wider Karangahape-a-Hape Station area from Pitt Street and Beresford Square to Karangahape Road, Mercury Lane and East Street.

Maungawhau: This group represented the Uptown community for the area around the Western Line from Normanby Road to Haultain Street and up to Nikau Street.

Contracts 1 & 2 (C1/C2): This group represented the local community from Waitematā Station / lower Queen Street (C1) and Albert Street from Albert Street from Quay Street to Wyndham Street (C2).
