June 2025

JUNE 2025: Erected in mid-2020, the large noise shed at the bottom of Mercury Lane was a prominent landmark. It was being demolished in June 2025.

 

April 2025

APRIL 2025: Installation started at Karanga-a-Hape’s Beresford entrance of Reuben Kirkwood (Ngāi Tai)'‘s work representing representing the Maramataka – the traditional Māori lunar calendar.

The moon’s phases are captured in carved, circular discs made from ancient swamp kauri, adding a powerful sense of time and place. Positioned above the concourse, the rods curve and cross in graceful arcs, symbolising the passage of time and the changing seasons.

APRIL 2025: Scaffolding came down from the Mercury Lane entrance. Two ‘stadium columns’ divide each flight of escalators, while metal-clad cross beams traverse the entrance shaft horizontally.


March 2025

MARCH 2025: This carving designed in collaboration with Paraone Luiten-Apirana ((Ngāti Hikairo, Ngāi Tūhoe, Te Arawa) and Graham Tipene of Ngati Whatua was installed in the ceiling of the Wellesley Street entrance of Te Waihorotiu Station. The carving represents Horotiu - the ‘kaitiaki’ or guardian looking after the people and supporting the abundance of life-giving energy in the area.

 

MARCH 2025: At the Beresford Square entrance, the team installing the final aluminium soffit panels around the underside of the station entrance room.

MARCH 2025: The ventilation shaft in Kingston Street reflects the breath of Mataaoho, the Māori atua or deity of volcanic forces. The wrap’s pattern – which will glow through backlighting – depicts the breath of the earth being vented by the deity, while the wrap’s overall geometry takes the form of a shard of rock. The plenum’s design is a collaboration between mana whenua-nominated (Te Ākitai Waiohua) artist Dr. Johnson Witehira (shown in the photos) and the Link Alliance architectural team.


February 2025

 

FEBRUARY 2025: Testing of tains through the tunnel includes focusing on the train's holding brake and parking brake.

FEBRUARY 2025: A test train made its first trip though the full length of a CRL tunnel.



January 2025

JANUARY 2025: Benches installed on the Maungawhau Station platforms.


JANUARY 2025: AT HOP ticketing gates in position at the Victoria Street entrance ready for installation.
