NOTIFICATIONS CPO AREA

This page details the latest work in Lower Queen Street and around the Britomart Transport Centre (the former Chief Post Office).

19 January 2021

Isolated work on the Whariki pattern has started today.

Due to COVID-19 impacts on imports a corner of the Whariki pattern in front of the CPO building was temporarily laid with sand so the entire square could be opened over the Christmas period. Pavers are now being removed in this area so they can be cleaned ready to be re-laid and grouted.

These works will be undertaken during working hours.

23 December 2020

We want to thank every one of our neighbours for all of your patience and cooperation this year. It has been a year full of a lot of uncertainty with the impact of COVID-19, but we have also reached some great milestones. We are excited to be able to gift Te Komititanga back to you in time for Christmas, we hope you enjoy this new space over the holidays and it brings new life to the area after four years of construction.

We will see you next year for the final leg of this project as we complete the Chief Post Office restoration, and the Tyler and Galway Street upgrade.

Happy holidays and have a wonderful new year!

Today, 23 December, will be our last day before site closes for two weeks. There will be intermittent work in the CPO building through the shutdown period, see below.

Site security will continue 24/7 during the shutdown period, but should you see anything or have any concerns during this time please contact Richard Taylor on 027 274 2453.

We will be back on site on Tuesday, 05 January, to begin tackling the next stage of works on Tyler and Galway Street, and continuing the CPO restoration for their reopening in 2021.

We hope you enjoy the summer sun and the newly opened Te Komititanga square over the holidays.
